Windows 11 Start Menu MISSING? Fix a Disappeared Taskbar Instantly

This issue usually happens because of a glitch in Windows Explorer, broken system files, a bad update, or a conflicting app. Before trying any fixes, it's really important to back up your important files—just to be safe. While most steps are safe, there’s always a small chance something might go wrong.

Restart Windows Explorer
  1. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)

  2. Find "Windows Explorer"

  3. Right-click and choose Restart

This often solves the problem right away!

Create a new user account
  1. Open Task Manager

  2. Go to File > Run new task

  3. Type control userpasswords2

  4. Make a new admin account and log into it

If it works here, you might need to move your files to this new account.

Run a system file check
  1. Open Command Prompt as admin

  2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter

  3. Restart your computer when it's done

This might take a while, but it can fix corrupted files.

Use the DISM tool
  1. Open Command Prompt as admin

  2. Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  3. Wait for it to finish, then restart

This is a deeper fix if the system file check doesn’t work.

Try System Restore
  1. Press Windows key + R, type rstrui

  2. Choose a restore point from before the problem started

This can undo recent changes that might have caused the issue.
