KeePass is a free tool that helps you manage your passwords securely. It keeps all your passwords in one place with strong encryption. You can create and store unique passwords for each account. Just download and install KeePass to get started.
Open your browser and head over to keepass.info
Click on "Downloads" from the top menu
Under the "Professional Edition" section, download the latest version
Right-click the downloaded file and choose "Run as administrator"
Follow the setup instructions to complete the installation
Choose your preferred installation location when asked, then you're all set
Press Win + X and select "Windows Terminal (Admin)"
Enter the command: winget install -e --id DominikReichl.KeePass
Wait for the installation to finish
Go to the KeePass downloads page
Download the portable version ZIP file
Extract the ZIP file
Find KeePass.exe inside the extracted folder
Create a shortcut for quick access
Open KeePass once installed
Create a new password database
Set a strong master password
(Optional) Create a key file for added protection
Save your database file (.kdbx) somewhere safe
Click "Add Entry" or press Ctrl + I
Enter the account details
Use the built-in password generator if needed
Add extra notes or attach files if necessary
Save the entry
Double-click the entry to view or copy a password
Use "Copy Password" or press Ctrl + C to copy
Paste the password where needed
Create groups (like folders)
Drag and drop entries into groups
Assign tags or color codes for easy sorting
Ctrl + B – Open the password generator
Ctrl + E – Edit the selected entry
Ctrl + U – Copy the username
Ctrl + C – Copy the password
